Close your eyes and imagine the sounds of Horses and a stagecoach pulling up in front of The Bedingfield Inn, as the stage coach driver blows into his horn annoucing the number of guests spending the night, and as you enter the inn, the smell of tobacco and the fire place burning, All rooms have a fireplace in them except the common room, where multiple families would share a single room along with body heat for 12and half cents a night. The beautiful Furnishings and construction of the Inn in 1836, almost makes you want to turn back the clock to a less demanding time or was it? and then within a block of the Inn you get to view the contents of a drugstore that started in 1865 and closed their doors in 1957. Dr. Hatchett's Drug Store Museum. One of the largest collection of apothecary jars in the United States and of course a wonderful selection of everyday drug store items many over 50 years old. Not only do you get to view these two historical buildings but you can take a Town Square Walking Tour of our Historic City, located in Lumpkin, Georgia.
This Authentic StageCoach Inn was built around 1836, it has survived from the period when Lumpkin was a frontier town.
