Museum members enjoy a 10% discount in the store for all purchases over $5.00.

The Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History is looking for volunteers. We have the opportunity for you to share your interest, passion or expertise in science and history with our visitors and school children. All museum volunteers receive orientation to the museum and the exhibits. Volunteers of all ages, are welcome.

Educational Programs

The Owensboro Museum of Science and History offers a wide range of educational programming to school groups and other organizations. All of our programming is in alignment with core content curriculum developed by the Kentucky Department of Education and the Indiana Department of Education.

From the exciting SpeedZeum to the hands on Encounter area to the Wendell Ford Government Education Center, we have programs that will excite, entertain and educate. Diversity programs, leadership institutes and seminars, student forums and history and science based activities are just a few of the wonderful educational programs we offer at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History.
The Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History also has a Junior Volunteer program for students age 12-17. A core group of 10-15 students are chosen from applicants that show maturity, ability, and the willingness to help others. Program year runs from June until April with new applications taken in April and early May for the program. Students help with summer programs and activities, and are given the opportunity to volunteer at the museum during many of the special events that take place during the school year at the museum. Orientation and training are given to those chosen to participate in the program.
