The Sam Macchette station, used by the Pony Express between 1860 and 1861, is located in Ehmen Park in the center of Gothenburg. It was used as a fur trading post/ranch house along the Oregon Trail southwest of Gothenburg. It was moved from its original site and rebuilt in Ehmen Park in 1931. The museum has been open to the public since 1954.
