History

Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens opened to the public as a museum in 1997. In 2005, the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) opened on the property. The MSV tells the story of the art, history, and culture of the Shenandoah Valley and anchors a regional history museum complex that also includes Glen Burnie Historic House and gardens.

Artifact Collections

The ancestral home of MSV benefactor Julian Wood Glass Jr. (1910-1992), the Glen Burnie Historic House displays objects Glass inherited from his Shenandoah Valley ancestors as well as the antiques, paintings, and decorative objects Glass collected to furnish his ancestral home. The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley displays a collection of Shenandoah Valley decorative arts, the R. Lee Taylor Collection of miniature houses and rooms, and the Julian Wood Glass Jr. collection of paintings, furniture, and decorative objects.
