Volunteers are at the jail each Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for research and shopping, and on other days by appointment.

The Society's major function is to discover and collect any materials which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the area. It provides for the preservation of such material and for its accessibility, as far as may be feasible, to all who wish to examine or study it.

A major project is underway at the Society office to obtain new members that are willing to help with our mission and help us to "Gather the Past for the Future."

To help preserve our beautiful county's history, we invite you to join the Bland County Historical Society. Members receive newsletters as they are published, and beginning this year, all members receive a 10% discount on all purchases in the Society Gift Shop.

The purpose of the Bland County Historical Society is to bring together those people interested in history, and especially the history of Bland County. Understanding the history of our community is basic to our democratic way of life, gives us a better understanding of our state and nation, and promotes a better appreciation of our American heritage.
