Description

You're welcome at the Bonifas Arts Center, a regional arts center providing a haven for creative and imaginative arts and cultural activities in the beautiful north woods of Michigan. The Alice Uren Powers Gallery features regional and national exhibits, as well as spotlighting local youth and arts organizations. Classes for art lovers of all ages and abilities encourage people to come and participate at their own level. Through affiliations and alliances with area libraries, a fine theatrical group (Players de Noc), Bay de Noc International Dancers, Delta Folks, the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, Bay Area Art Association, Michigan Humanities Council, Remnants Barbershop Chorus, and the Bay de Noc Choral Society, the Center helps provide experiences that connect participants with people, places and times as diverse as ancient Egypt and rural Upper Peninsula. Visitors and volunteers are welcome!

Mission

The William Bonifas Fine Arts Center is a comprehensive arts organization dedicated to enriching daily life in the Central Upper Peninsula.

History

The William Bonifas Fine Arts Center was founded by a group of citizens who saw the opportunity to enrich the community by providing a place to celebrate diversity in culture and the arts. Since then, it has presented gallery exhibits from NASA, Michigan Audubon, and artists like James Thatcher, Philip Sugden, and Ingrid Cline Blixt, theatrical performances including Shakespeare and the Missoula Children's Theater, and music of all kinds. Classes, too, in the pot shop or the Studio, bring people together to enjoy their creativity.
