History Society featuring in-depth research facility including One Room School Archives of St. Joseph Co. deeds, land search and history, obit and histories of county villages and towns. Large photo collection and compiled Civil War records of county soldiers.
To promote an interest in history of St. Joseph Co. Mi and the surrounding area by being a repository for its collective memory and bringing the past forward for the future.
SJCHS was established in 1873 as an extension of the St. Joseph Co. Pioneer Society . A 501-3c non profit.
Local historical artifacts relative to the cities and villages of our county.
One room schools archive, Civil War, deeds and land research materials, photograph’s, obits, Tax and assessment records, genealogy references, historical site materials. Owner of White Pigeon Prairie U.S Land Office (1831-1834). Fully restored state and national historic site.
Free programs on a variety of subject matter, rotating exhibits, workshops and lectures available upon request.
Situated in the historical J Buys building in historic Main Street downtown Three Rivers.
