Harry W. Meador, Jr. to whom this museum is dedicated, was a tireless advocate of the coal-mining industry in general, and of the Westmoreland Coal Company in particular.Collections include merchandise, pictures and documents about the coal mining institution in Big Stone Gap; exhibitions focus on mining and the people living in the area during the coal mining boom.

John Fox Jr. Museum

The John Fox, Jr. house, a Virginia Historical landmark serves as both a museum and a memorial to the Fox family. The house was built in 1888, and is filled with beautiful furnishings and mementos of the family. Here, the author, John Fox, Jr., wrote 'The Trail of the Lonesome Pine', 14 other full length novels, in addition to more than 500 short stories. Guided tours are conducted through the house.
