Hatton, North Dakota
History, Historic House
This museum/association was formed to perpetuate the memory of our local aviation pioneer Carl Ben Eielson. The Museum itself was his boyhood home and the first floor of the historic house remains as it was when the family was living there. Other exhibits on display include area pioneer articles, manuscripts and clothing. The attic contains displays of the original Hatton post office clerk window and boxes, military articles from WWI and WWII as well as items from pioneer doctor's and dentist's offices. Much of the story of Carl Ben Eielson, his accomplishments and tragic early dealth are on display in the form of newspaper articles of the time. The house itself is a wonderful example of turn of a turn of the century building with no cost spared.
