Lemoore, California
Historic House
Our museum tells the story of the development of California Agriculture in the San Joaquin Valley through the story of one of our early pioneer families, Aaron & Sarah Mooney, who arrived by train coming from New York in 1877. On their way they stopped in Coldwater, Michigan and adopted their beautiful daughter, Harriet. Upon arriving in Lemoore the Mooneys opened a Mercantile and later took up an interest in the local lumberyard with their son-in-law, Charles Bailey (Lemoore's first Mayor), and also operated a small farm. In addition, Mr. Mooney served the community by serving as the town "Undertaker". Mrs. Mooney served faithfully by his side until he died in 1912 with Mrs. Mooney following him in death in 1925.
